Biodiversity is the immense variety of living organisms — from microscopic algae that release most of our oxygen to fungi and bacteria that decompose waste, and bees, birds and bats that pollinate. Farmers have long kept diverse crop varieties (drought-tolerant, pest-resistant) because diversity lowers the risk of crop failure. Biodiversity jeevon ki bahut badi variety hai — humari zyadatar oxygen dene wale chhote algae se lekar kachra sadaane wale fungi aur bacteria, aur pollination karne wali madhumakhiyan, pakshi aur chamgaadad. Kisaan lambe samay se alag-alag fasal varieties (sookha sehne wali, keede se bachne wali) rakhte aaye hain kyonki diversity fasal kharab hone ka risk kam karti hai.

12.1–12.2India as a biodiversity hotspotजैव विविधता हॉटस्पॉट के रूप में भारतBharat ek biodiversity hotspot

India has mountains, deserts, rainforests, plateaus and long coasts. Endemic species are found naturally only in one region: Nilgiri tahr, lion-tailed macaque, the pitcher plant Nepenthes khasiana, Neelakurinji. Biodiversity hotspots are regions with many endemic species that have suffered major habitat loss: the Western Ghats, Indo-Burma (incl. North East India), the Himalayas and Sundaland (incl. the Nicobar Islands). Today’s diversity arose as small differences that helped survival accumulated over vast time. Traditions like the Sangam Tinai landscapes and sacred groves helped conserve habitats. Bharat mein pahaad, registaan, rainforest, pathaar aur lambe tat hain. Endemic species prakritik roop se sirf ek ilaake mein milti hain: Nilgiri tahr, lion-tailed macaque, pitcher plant Nepenthes khasiana, Neelakurinji. Biodiversity hotspots wo ilaake hain jinmein kai endemic species hain aur jinke habitat bahut nasht hue hain: Western Ghats, Indo-Burma (North East samet), Himalaya aur Sundaland (Nicobar samet). Aaj ki diversity bachne mein madad karne wale chhote antaron ke lambe samay tak jamaa hone se bani. Sangam Tinai landscapes aur sacred groves jaisi paramparaon ne habitats bachaye.

12.3How to classify organisms?

Activity 12.1: the same animal can fall into different groups depending on the criterion (habitat, day/night activity, diet). Scientists use: (1) external features; (2) mode of nutrition — autotrophic or heterotrophic; (3) internal structures; (4) cell structure — unicellular/multicellular, prokaryotic/eukaryotic, cell wall; (5) ecological role — producer, consumer, decomposer; (6) reproduction; (7) genetic similarity (DNA). Similar features suggest a common ancestor. Activity 12.1: ek hi jantu aadhaar (habitat, din/raat activity, khana) ke hisaab se alag groups mein aa sakta hai. Scientists use karte hain: (1) bahari features; (2) nutrition — autotrophic ya heterotrophic; (3) andar ki structures; (4) cell structure — unicellular/multicellular, prokaryotic/eukaryotic, cell wall; (5) ecological role — producer, consumer, decomposer; (6) reproduction; (7) genetic similarity (DNA). Milte-julte features common ancestor ka ishaara dete hain.

Classification kyon zaroori hai

Like a library sorted by subject, biological classification organises millions of organisms. Pakke Tiger Reserve (Arunachal Pradesh) has about 300 of India’s ~1,300 bird species and four hornbills — Rufous-necked, Oriental Pied, Great and Wreathed — which nest only in large old trees and eat specific fruits. Classification makes study systematic, shows similarities and relationships, helps name new organisms, flags threatened species for conservation and gives scientists worldwide a common system. Subject-wise saji library ki tarah biological classification karodon jeevon ko vyavasthit karta hai. Pakke Tiger Reserve (Arunachal Pradesh) mein Bharat ki ~1,300 bird species mein se lagbhag 300 aur chaar hornbills — Rufous-necked, Oriental Pied, Great aur Wreathed — hain, jo sirf bade purane pedon mein ghonsla banate aur khaas fal khaate hain. Classification padhai ko vyavasthit karta hai, similarities aur rishte dikhata hai, naye jeevon ka naam rakhne mein madad karta hai, khatre wali species ko conservation ke liye pehchaanta hai aur duniya bhar ke scientists ko ek common system deta hai.

Monera (12.6.1): unicellular prokaryotes — bacteria and cyanobacteria. Found everywhere (hot springs, our gut, cattle gut where they make biogas from dung). Some cause disease; many help (Lactobacillus, Rhizobium), break down pollutants and recycle nutrients. Cyanobacteria were among the first oxygen producers (~2.5 billion years ago); their fossils (stromatolites) occur in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Ram Bux Singh, “Father of Modern Biogas”, set up India’s first scientific biogas plant (1957). Monera (12.6.1): unicellular prokaryotes — bacteria aur cyanobacteria. Har jagah (garam jharne, humari aant, maveshiyon ki aant jahan gobar se biogas banate hain). Kuch rog failate hain; kai kaam ke (Lactobacillus, Rhizobium), pollutants todte aur nutrients recycle karte hain. Cyanobacteria sabse pehle oxygen banane walon mein the (~2.5 arab saal pehle); inke fossils (stromatolites) Rajasthan aur MP mein mile. “Father of Modern Biogas” Ram Bux Singh ne Bharat ka pehla scientific biogas plant (1957) lagaya.

Protista (12.6.2, Activity 12.5 hay infusion): single-celled eukaryotes, without a wall or with a cellulose wall, in water or moist places — Amoeba, Paramecium, Euglena. Fungi (12.6.3): mostly multicellular eukaryotes with chitin cell walls; absorb food through fine filaments forming a mycelium. Most are saprophytes (decomposers that return minerals to soil); some are symbiotic, some parasitic. Yeast is unicellular but placed here because of its chitin wall. Aspergillus and Penicillium give enzymes and antibiotics. Wild edible mushrooms are valued by tribal communities; mushroom farming takes 30–45 days. Lichens (patthar ke phool) are an alga + fungus partnership and are bioindicators of clean air. Fungi (12.6.3): aksar multicellular eukaryotes, chitin ki cell wall; baarik dhaagon se khana sokhte hain jo mycelium banate hain. A tiger is bagh, puli, tiger or tigre in different languages. Binomial nomenclature (Linnaeus, 18th century) gives one worldwide two-part Latin name: genus (capital first letter) + species (all small letters), italic in print, each word underlined when handwritten — Panthera tigris, Mangifera indica. A species = similar individuals that can interbreed and produce offspring. The Purple Frog Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis is named after the Sahyadri hills. 12.9–12.10Fossils and biodiversity under threatजीवाश्म और संकट में जैव विविधताFossils aur khatre mein biodiversity

Fossils are preserved remains in layers of rock, sand and mud; older layers usually hold simpler forms. Birbal Sahni studied fossil plants and founded the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow. Threats: pollution, deforestation, overuse and climate change — losing one species can pull down others that depend on it. Example: the Sangai (dancing deer) of the floating phumdis of Loktak lake, Manipur — once declared extinct (1951), rediscovered (1953), still endangered as phumdis degrade. Fossils chattan, ret aur keechad ki paraton mein bache avshesh hain; purani paraton mein aksar saral roop milte hain. Birbal Sahni ne plant fossils padhe aur Lucknow mein Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences banaya. Khatre: pollution, jungle katna, zyada istemaal aur climate change — ek species khatam hone se us par nirbhar doosri bhi ghat sakti hain. Udaharan: Manipur ki Loktak jheel ke tairte phumdis ka Sangai (naachta hiran) — ek baar extinct ghoshit (1951), phir mila (1953), phumdis kharab hone se ab bhi khatre mein.

Pause & Ponder 1. If many organisms share common features, could they also share a common ancestry? Agar kai jeevon mein common features hon, to kya unka purvaj bhi ek ho sakta hai?
Yes, very likely. Shared basic features (body plan, cell type, the same kind of DNA) are best explained by inheritance from a common ancestor; the more features two groups share, the more recently their ancestors were the same. Classification therefore also reflects evolutionary relationships. Haan, zyada sambhav. Common basic features (body plan, cell type, ek jaisa DNA) common ancestor se aaye lagte hain; jitne zyada features common, utna nazdeeki rishta. Isliye classification evolution ke rishte bhi dikhata hai.
Pause & Ponder 2. How can a single-celled organism carry out all life processes when billions of cells do the same job in us? Ek cell wala jeev saare life processes kaise karta hai jabki humare andar yahi kaam arabon cells karti hain?
Its one cell does everything using organelles and its large surface compared to its tiny volume: food is taken in (food vacuole in Amoeba), gases diffuse through the membrane, a contractile vacuole removes extra water, cilia/flagella or pseudopodia move it, and it reproduces by division. Being small, diffusion is enough — no tissues or organs are needed.

Bryophytes (and pteridophytes) have root-like rhizoids, stem- and leaf-like parts and (pteridophytes) vascular tissue, so they can live on land. But their sperms must swim through water to reach the egg, so they still need moist places. Bryophytes (aur pteridophytes) mein root jaise rhizoids, stem-leaf jaise hisse aur (pteridophytes mein) vascular tissue hote hain, isliye zameen par reh sakte hain. Par sperm ko egg tak paani mein tair ke jaana padta hai, isliye nami chahiye.

Diffusion works only over very short distances. In a tall plant, water and minerals must travel metres up from the roots and food must move from leaves to all parts, so xylem (water, minerals) and phloem (food) are needed; lignified xylem also gives mechanical support to stand tall. Diffusion sirf bahut chhoti doori tak kaam karta hai. Lambe paudhe mein paani-minerals jad se kai meter upar aur khana patton se har hisse tak jaana chahiye, isliye xylem (paani, minerals) aur phloem (khana) zaroori; lignin wala xylem khade rehne ka support bhi deta hai.
Pause & Ponder 5. How do seeds and fruits affect where and how plants can survive? Beej aur fal kaise tay karte hain ki paudhe kahan aur kaise jee sakein?
A seed carries an embryo with stored food inside a protective coat, so it survives dry or cold periods and germinates when conditions are good; fertilisation no longer needs water. Fruits protect seeds and help disperse them (wind, water, animals) to new places. So seed plants could spread to dry land and many habitats. Beej mein protective cover ke andar stored khane ke saath embryo hota hai, isliye sookhe ya thande samay mein bachkar sahi samay par ugta hai; fertilisation ke liye paani zaroori nahi. Fal beej ko bachate hain aur (hawa, paani, jaanvar se) door phailate hain. Isliye seed plants sookhi zameen aur kai habitats mein phail sake.
Pause & Ponder 6. An earthworm and a beetle both have segmented bodies but the beetle has a hard external skeleton. How does it help the beetle survive? Kenchua (annelida) aur beetle (arthropoda) dono segmented hain par beetle mein hard exoskeleton hai. Ye beetle ki kaise madad karta hai?
The exoskeleton protects against injury and predators, reduces water loss so the beetle can live in dry, exposed places (an earthworm must stay in moist soil), and gives firm attachment for strong muscles of the jointed legs and wings. Exoskeleton chot aur shikariyon se bachata hai, paani ka nuksaan ghatata hai jisse beetle sookhi khuli jagah reh sakta hai (kenchue ko geeli mitti mein rehna padta hai), aur jointed legs aur pankh ki strong muscles ko jodne ka aadhaar deta hai.
Pause & Ponder 7. Does ‘biodiversity’ relate only to the variety of organisms, or other elements too?
It is more than a list of species: it includes genetic diversity within a species (varieties of rice, mango), species diversity, and ecosystem diversity — forests, wetlands, deserts, coasts — along with the interactions among organisms and their non-living surroundings. Ye sirf species ki list nahi: isme ek species ke andar genetic diversity (chawal, aam ki kisme), species diversity aur ecosystem diversity — jungle, wetland, registaan, tat — aur jeevon va nirjeev mahaul ke beech ke rishte bhi aate hain.

In order: (1) cell type — prokaryotic or eukaryotic (microscope); (2) unicellular or multicellular and level of organisation; (3) mode of nutrition — chlorophyll/autotrophic or heterotrophic; (4) cell wall present or not; (5) body features — symmetry, segments, appendages, skeleton, backbone. The first features are the most basic, so they decide the kingdom; the later ones decide smaller groups. DNA is the instruction set passed from parents to offspring. Comparing DNA shows how closely organisms are related even when they look different (or look similar but are unrelated), reveals hidden species and ancestry — e.g. Woese used it to propose three domains.DNA

Rising temperature, changed rainfall, floods and droughts alter habitats faster than many species can adapt or move: coral bleaching, glaciers and alpine species shrinking, flowering out of step with pollinators, spread of pests and diseases. Losing one species can pull down others that depend on it, so ecosystems become less stable. Badhta taapmaan, badli baarish, baadh aur sookha habitats ko itni tezi se badalte hain ki kai species adapt ya shift nahi kar paati: coral bleaching, glacier aur pahaadi species ka ghatna, phool khilne aur pollinators ka taalmel bigadna, keede-beemariyon ka phailna. Ek species ghatne se us par nirbhar doosri bhi ghatti hain, ecosystem asthir hota hai.

Both have xylem and phloem. In the sunflower (a flowering plant) vascular bundles lie in a neat ring; in the fern the vascular tissue is simpler and arranged differently (a central strand/scattered strands) — pteridophytes were the first plants with vascular tissue. Dono mein xylem aur phloem hain. Sunflower (flowering plant) mein vascular bundles ek saaf ring mein; fern mein vascular tissue saral aur alag tarah (central/bikhre strands) — pteridophytes vascular tissue wale pehle paudhe the.

Backbone pehle phylum alag karta hai; phir pankh ya chhe jointed legs class tay karte hain.
4. Why would a scientist choose cellular organisation as a more fundamental basis of classification than xylem and phloem?4. Scientist classification ke liye xylem-phloem ki jagah cellular organisation ko zyada basic aadhaar kyon chunega?
Cellular organisation (prokaryotic/eukaryotic, unicellular/multicellular) applies to every living organism and arose earliest, so it divides all life into the broadest groups. Xylem and phloem exist only in some plants (pteridophytes and seed plants); they are useful later, to sub-divide the plant kingdom, but cannot classify bacteria, fungi or animals. Cellular organisation (prokaryotic/eukaryotic, unicellular/multicellular) har jeev par lagu hota hai aur sabse pehle aaya, isliye saare jeevan ko sabse bade groups mein baantta hai. Xylem-phloem sirf kuch paudhon mein hain; ye plant kingdom ko aage baantne mein kaam aate hain, par bacteria, fungi ya jaanvaron ko classify nahi kar sakte.
5. An unlabelled slide shows a single-celled organism with a well-defined nucleus and many cilia. Which group? Bina label ki slide mein clear nucleus aur kai cilia wala ek-koshikiya jeev hai. Kaunsa group? Kaaran dijiye.
Kingdom Protista (likely Paramecium). Well-defined nucleus → eukaryotic, so not Monera; single-celled → not Plantae/Animalia; cilia for movement and feeding is typical of protists, not fungi. Kingdom Protista (shayad Paramecium). Different organisms do different jobs — producers make food and oxygen, consumers control populations, pollinators and seed dispersers help plants, decomposers recycle nutrients. With many species, food webs have several links, so if one species declines another can fill its role, and the ecosystem recovers better from disease, drought or cyclones (e.g. mangroves reduced damage in the 1999 Odisha cyclone). Alag jeev alag kaam karte hain — producers khana aur oxygen, consumers population control, pollinators aur seed dispersers paudhon ki madad, decomposers nutrients recycle. Zyada species se food web mein kai kadiyan hoti hain, isliye ek species ghate to doosri uska kaam kar sakti hai, aur ecosystem beemari, sookhe ya cyclone se behtar ubharta hai (jaise 1999 Odisha cyclone mein mangroves).
7. If all unicellular organisms were grouped into a single kingdom, what problems would arise?7. Agar saare ek-koshikiya jeev ek hi kingdom mein daal diye jaayein to kya problems hongi?
Very different organisms would be lumped together: prokaryotes (bacteria — no nucleus or membrane organelles) with eukaryotes (Amoeba, Paramecium); autotrophs (Euglena, diatoms, cyanobacteria) with heterotrophs; and unicellular fungi (yeast) with protists. Such a group would not reflect real relationships or evolution and would be useless for predicting features. Bahut alag jeev ek saath aa jaayenge: prokaryotes (bacteria — nucleus nahi) aur eukaryotes (Amoeba, Paramecium); autotrophs (Euglena, diatoms, cyanobacteria) aur heterotrophs; aur ek-koshikiya fungi (yeast) aur protists. The five kingdoms are built on cell structure, but viruses are acellular — just genetic material (DNA or RNA) in a protein coat, with no cytoplasm, organelles or metabolism of their own. They reproduce only inside a host cell and are inactive (can even crystallise) outside it. Paanch kingdoms cell structure par bane hain, par virus acellular hain — protein cover mein sirf genetic material (DNA ya RNA), apna cytoplasm, organelles ya metabolism nahi. Sirf host cell ke andar badhte hain aur bahar inactive rehte hain (crystal bhi ban sakte hain).
9. Revising the five-kingdom system, would you make a separate category for viruses or keep them outside? Justify.9. 9. Five kingdom system badalte waqt virus ke liye alag category banayenge ya bahar rakhenge? Justify kijiye.
A reasonable answer: keep them outside the kingdoms but in a separate category of acellular entities, because they share genetic material and evolve like living things, yet lack cells, the very basis of the kingdoms. (Arguing for a full separate kingdom is also acceptable if justified.) Either way it shows that classification is a human-made, evolving system that changes as new organisms and tools (electron microscope, DNA) appear — five kingdoms (1969) → three domains (1977). Sahi jawab: unhe kingdoms se bahar, par acellular entities ki alag category mein rakhna, kyunki unme genetic material hai aur wo living cheezon ki tarah evolve hote hain, par cell — kingdoms ka basic aadhaar — nahi. (Justify karke alag kingdom bhi chalega.) Dono tarah se dikhta hai ki classification insaan ka banaya, badalta system hai jo naye jeevon aur tools (electron microscope, DNA) ke saath badalta hai — five kingdoms (1969) → three domains (1977).
10. Viruses have genetic material but no cellular organisation. Which features keep them out of the five-kingdom system, and what does this say about classification systems?10. Virus mein genetic material hai par cellular organisation nahi. Kaunse features unhe five kingdom se bahar rakhte hain, aur ye classification ki kya limitation dikhata hai?
No cell, no cell membrane or cytoplasm, no nucleus/prokaryotic body, no metabolism or own nutrition, no growth or reproduction outside a host — so none of the kingdom criteria (cell type, body organisation, mode of nutrition) can be applied. Limitation: every system is built on chosen criteria and fails for things that do not fit them; borderline cases force scientists to revise systems. Cell, membrane ya cytoplasm nahi, nucleus/prokaryotic body nahi, apna metabolism ya nutrition nahi, host ke bahar growth ya reproduction nahi — isliye kingdom ka koi aadhaar (cell type, body organisation, nutrition) lagu nahi hota. Limitation: har system chune gaye criteria par bana hai aur jo unme fit na ho uske liye fail hota hai; aise borderline cases system badalwate hain.
11. Pteridophytes and bryophytes both lack flowers and seeds, yet are placed in different groups. Explain.11. 11. Pteridophytes aur bryophytes dono mein phool-beej nahi, phir bhi alag groups mein kyon?
Bryophytes (mosses, liverworts): no vascular tissue, no true roots (rhizoids), small and low-growing — "amphibians of the plant kingdom". Pteridophytes (ferns): have vascular tissue (xylem, phloem) and true roots, stems and leaves, so they can grow larger. The presence of a transport system is a major difference, so they form separate groups. Bryophytes (moss, liverwort): vascular tissue nahi, asli jad nahi (rhizoids), chhote aur zameen se chipke — "plant kingdom ke amphibians". Pteridophytes (fern): vascular tissue (xylem, phloem) aur asli jad, tana, patti, isliye bade ho sakte hain. Transport system hona bada fark hai, isliye alag groups.
12. Which group — class or genus — has fewer members but more features in common? Explain.12. 12. Class ya genus — kisme members kam par common features zyada? Samjhaiye.
Genus. Going down the hierarchy each group lies inside the one above: a class contains several orders → families → genera. A genus is a small group of closely related species (e.g. Panthera: tiger, lion, leopard), so its members share many more features than all members of a class (Mammalia: from bats to whales). Genus. Hierarchy mein neeche har group upar wale ke andar hai: ek class mein kai orders → families → genera. Genus nazdeeki species ka chhota group hai (jaise Panthera: tiger, sher, tendua), isliye iske members mein class (Mammalia: chamgaadad se whale tak) ke saare members se kahin zyada common features hain.
13. A new organism shows locomotion and autotrophic nutrition. Which characters would identify it as Protista?13. Naye jeev mein movement aur autotrophic nutrition hai. Kaunse features ise Protista mein pehchanenge?
Check that it is unicellular and eukaryotic (well-defined nucleus, membrane-bound organelles such as chloroplasts). Movement by flagella/cilia plus photosynthesis in one cell (like Euglena) places it in Protista. A multicellular autotroph would be a plant; a prokaryotic one (no nucleus) would be Monera (cyanobacteria). Check kijiye ki ye unicellular aur eukaryotic (clear nucleus, chloroplast jaise organelles) hai. Ek hi cell mein flagella/cilia se movement aur photosynthesis (jaise Euglena) ise Protista mein rakhta hai. Multicellular autotroph plant hoga; prokaryotic (nucleus nahi) Monera (cyanobacteria).
14. A unicellular eukaryote was identified as a fungus. What key would you suggest to keep a unicellular organism in Kingdom Fungi?14. Ek ek-koshikiya eukaryote ko fungus bataya gaya. Ek cell wale jeev ko Fungi mein rakhne ki identification key kya hogi?
Key: (1) eukaryotic — true nucleus → yes; (2) cell wall present, made of chitin → yes; (3) no chlorophyll, heterotrophic — absorbs food (saprophytic) → yes; (4) no cilia/flagella for movement; reproduces by budding/spores → Fungi (e.g. yeast). A unicellular eukaryote failing (2) or (3) would go to Protista. Key: (1) eukaryotic — asli nucleus → haan; (2) chitin ki cell wall → haan; (3) chlorophyll nahi, heterotrophic — khana absorb karta hai (saprophytic) → haan; (4) movement ke liye cilia/flagella nahi; budding/spores se reproduction → Fungi (jaise yeast). (2) ya (3) mein fail ho to Protista.
15. Case study — organisms P (microscopic, no true nucleus, rigid covering, survives high salinity/temperature), Q (multicellular, filamentous, cell wall, no chlorophyll, grows on dead matter), R (unicellular, true nucleus, contractile vacuole, flagella, photosynthetic in light, heterotrophic in dark), S (multicellular, tissues, backbone, aquatic respiration early in life), T (acellular, genetic material, inactive outside a host). Answer (i)–(vii).15. 15. Case study — P (microscopic, asli nucleus nahi, rigid cover, zyada namak/garmi sehta), Q (multicellular, filament, cell wall, chlorophyll nahi, mare padarth par ugta), R (unicellular, asli nucleus, contractile vacuole, flagella, roshni mein photosynthesis, andhere mein heterotrophic), S (multicellular, tissues, backbone, shuru mein paani mein saans), T (acellular, genetic material, host ke bahar inactive). (i)–(vii) ke answer.
(i) Q — multicellular filaments with a cell wall but no chlorophyll, living on dead matter (saprophytic) like a mould. (ii) P — no true nucleus (prokaryotic). (iii) By level of organisation: Q is multicellular (filamentous, walled, saprophytic → Fungi) while R is unicellular (flagellate, mixotrophic → Protista). (iv) S is heterotrophic, but so are fungi, many protists and bacteria; nutrition alone cannot separate it — its multicellular body with tissues and a backbone places it in Animalia, Chordata (an amphibian, e.g. frog). (v) T lacks cellular organisation; there is no place for acellular entities, showing classification systems cannot include everything. (vi) e.g. R and S (pond), or Q with soil bacteria — unrelated organisms would be grouped together just because they share a habitat, hiding their real relationships, so features could not be predicted from the group. (vii) Fungi — eukaryotic, no chlorophyll and absorbing nutrients externally (absorptive nutrition, not ingestion) are fungal features; animals ingest food and digest it internally.(i) Q — कोशिका भित्ति वाले बहुकोशिकीय तंतु, क्लोरोफ़िल नहीं, मृत पदार्थ पर (मृतजीवी) — फफूँद की तरह। (i) Q — cell wall wale multicellular filaments, chlorophyll nahi, mare padarth par (saprophytic) — mould jaisa. (ii) P — asli nucleus nahi (prokaryotic). (iii) Level of organisation se: Q multicellular (filament, wall, saprophytic → Fungi), R unicellular (flagella, mixotrophic → Protista). (iv) S heterotrophic hai, par fungi, kai protists aur bacteria bhi; sirf nutrition se alag nahi hoga — tissues wala multicellular body aur backbone ise Animalia, Chordata (amphibian, jaise mendhak) mein rakhte hain. (v) T mein cellular organisation nahi; acellular cheezon ki jagah nahi — classification sab kuch nahi samet pata. (vi) Jaise R aur S (talaab), ya Q aur mitti ke bacteria — alag jeev sirf same habitat ki wajah se ek group mein aa jaayenge, asli rishte chhup jaayenge aur group se features predict nahi honge. (vii) Fungi — eukaryotic, chlorophyll nahi aur bahar se nutrients absorb karna (absorptive nutrition, nigalna nahi) fungi ke features hain; jaanvar khana nigal kar andar pachate hain.
