Key points ✍️मुख्य बातें ✍️Key points ✍️
- Distillation — heat the mixture until the liquid with the lower boiling point vaporises, then cool the vapour back into liquid. Distillation — mixture ko garam kijiye jab tak kam boiling point wala liquid vapour na bane, phir vapour ko thanda karke liquid banaiye.
- When to use — to separate liquids whose boiling points differ by at least about 25 °C. Kab use karein — jin liquids ke boiling points mein kam se kam lagbhag 25 °C ka fark ho.
- Solvent recovery — distillation also separates a liquid from a solution of dissolved solids (the solid stays in the flask). Solvent recovery — distillation se ghule solid wale solution se liquid bhi alag hota hai (solid flask mein rehta hai).
- Miscible liquids — acetone and water mix completely, so a separating funnel cannot separate them; distillation can. Miscible liquids — acetone aur paani poori tarah mil jaate hain, separating funnel se alag nahi hote; distillation se hote hain.
- Condenser — cooled by circulating water (or air); vapour condenses as a pure liquid.
- Distillate — the pure liquid collected in a separate vessel. Distillate — alag bartan mein jama kiya gaya pure liquid.
- Fractional distillation — separates components whose boiling points differ by less than 25 °C. Fractional distillation — jin components ke boiling points mein 25 °C se kam fark ho, unhe alag karta hai.
- Petroleum refinery — crude petroleum is separated by fractional distillation into petroleum gas, petrol, kerosene, diesel and more. Petroleum refinery — crude petroleum ko fractional distillation se petroleum gas, petrol, kerosene, diesel wagairah mein alag kiya jaata hai.
- Petroleum gas — filled in steel cylinders under high pressure, where it gets liquefied. Petroleum gas — high pressure par steel cylinders mein bhari jaati hai, jahan ye liquid ban jaati hai.
- Deg-Bhapka — traditional distillation method of Kannauj used to make the perfume Mitti ka Ittar. Deg-Bhapka — Kannauj ka traditional distillation method, jisse ‘Mitti ka Ittar’ banta hai.
