Key points ✍️मुख्य बातें ✍️Key points ✍️
- Equipotential surface — a surface with the same potential at every point. Equipotential surface — aisi surface jiske har point par potential same ho.
- No work — no work is needed to move a test charge on an equipotential surface. Koi work nahi — equipotential surface par test charge le jaane mein koi work nahi lagta.
- E is normal — for any charge configuration, E at a point is normal to the equipotential through it.E E perpendicular — kisi bhi charge arrangement mein, kisi point par E us point ke equipotential ke perpendicular hota hai.
- Point charge — V = q/4πε₀r, so equipotentials are concentric spheres centred on the charge. Point charge — V = q/4πε₀r, isliye equipotentials charge par centred concentric spheres hain.
- Uniform field — equipotentials are planes normal to E (field along x → planes parallel to the y-z plane). Uniform field — equipotentials E ke perpendicular planes hain (x ke along field → y-z plane ke parallel planes).
- Dipole potential — V = p cos θ/4πε₀r² (r ≫ a); falls as 1/r², and depends on θ. Dipole potential — V = p cos θ/4πε₀r² (r ≫ a); 1/r² ki tarah ghatta hai aur θ par depend karta hai.
- Dipole axis — V = ±p/4πε₀r²; on the equatorial plane V = 0. Dipole axis — V = ±p/4πε₀r²; equatorial plane par V = 0.
- Two like charges — NCERT Fig 2.11(b) shows the equipotentials of two identical positive charges too. Do same charges — NCERT Fig 2.11(b) do identical positive charges ke equipotentials bhi dikhata hai.
- E and V — |E| = –δV/δl = |δV|/δl, measured normal to the equipotential.E E aur V — |E| = –δV/δl = |δV|/δl, equipotential ke perpendicular measure kiya.
- Direction of E — E points in the direction in which the potential decreases steepest.E E ki disha — E us disha mein hota hai jismein potential sabse tezi se ghatta hai.
- Charged shell — E = 0 inside, so V is constant inside and equals its value on the surface. Charged shell — andar E = 0, isliye andar V constant hai aur surface ke value ke barabar hai.
- Only differences matter — potential is fixed only up to a constant; the potential difference is what is physical (V = 0 at infinity by choice). Sirf difference matter karta hai — potential ek constant tak arbitrary hai; physical meaning potential difference ka hai (infinity par V = 0 choose kiya).
