Key points ✍️मुख्य बातें ✍️Key points ✍️
- Receptors — specialised tips of nerve cells in sense organs: gustatory receptors detect taste, olfactory receptors detect smell. Receptors — sense organs mein nerve cells ke khaas tips: gustatory receptors taste, olfactory receptors smell pehchaante hain.
- Path of an impulse — dendrite → cell body → axon → axon end. Impulse ka path — dendrite → cell body → axon → axon end.
- Synapse — at the axon end, chemicals are released; they cross the gap and start an impulse in the next neuron’s dendrite. Synapse — axon end par chemicals release hokar gap paar karte hain aur agle neuron ke dendrite mein impulse shuru karte hain.
- Neuromuscular junction — a similar synapse delivers impulses from neurons to muscle cells or glands (Fig 6.1 b). Neuromuscular junction — aisa hi synapse neurons se impulse muscle cells ya glands tak pahunchata hai (Fig 6.1 b).
- Nervous tissue — an organised network of neurons, specialised for conducting information via electrical impulses. Nervous tissue — neurons ka organised network, electrical impulses se information bhejne ke liye khaas.
- Reflex action — a sudden response to the environment, done without thinking, e.g. pulling the hand back from a flame. Reflex action — environment ke prati achanak, bina soche response, jaise flame se haath kheench lena.
- Reflex arc — receptor → sensory neuron → relay neuron (spinal cord) → motor neuron → effector (muscle). Reflex arc — receptor → sensory neuron → relay neuron (spinal cord) → motor neuron → effector (muscle).
- Why in the spinal cord — nerves from all over the body meet in a bundle there on their way to the brain; the input also goes on to the brain. Spinal cord mein kyun — poori body ki nerves brain jaate hue wahan bundle mein milti hain; input brain tak bhi jaata hai.
- Why reflex arcs evolved — the brain’s thinking is not fast enough; reflex arcs remain more efficient for quick responses. Reflex arcs kyun bane — brain ka sochna kaafi tez nahi; quick response ke liye reflex arcs zyada efficient hain.
