Key points ✍️मुख्य बातें ✍️Key points ✍️

  • Cell membrane — thin, selectively permeable boundary (plasma membrane) of every cell. Cell membrane — har cell ki patli, selectively permeable boundary (plasma membrane).
  • Cell wall — made mainly of cellulose; present in plant cells (also fungi and bacteria), absent in animal cells — so animal cells can change shape easily. Cell wall — mainly cellulose ki; plant cell (aur fungi, bacteria) mein hoti hai, animal cell mein nahi — isliye animal cell aasani se shape badal sakti hai.
  • Nucleus — double-layered nuclear membrane with pores; nucleolus makes ribosomal subunits. Nucleus — pores wali double-layered nuclear membrane; nucleolus mein ribosome ke subunits bante hain.
  • Chromatin → chromosomes — DNA + proteins; seen as rod-shaped chromosomes only when the cell is about to divide. Functional DNA segments = genes. Chromatin → chromosomes — DNA + proteins; rod jaise chromosomes sirf division se theek pehle dikhte hain. DNA ke functional segments = genes.
  • Ribosomes — “protein factories”, free in the cytoplasm or attached to the ER.
  • RER and SER — rough ER has ribosomes (protein synthesis and secretion); smooth ER has none (fats and hormones).RER RER aur SER — rough ER par ribosomes (protein synthesis aur secretion); smooth ER par nahi (fats aur hormones).
  • Golgi apparatus — the “post office”: modifies, sorts and packages proteins and lipids into vesicles; also forms lysosomes. Golgi apparatus — “post office”: proteins aur lipids ko modify, sort karke vesicles mein pack karta hai; lysosomes bhi banata hai.
  • Lysosomes — the “clean-up system”: enzyme sacs that break down waste and worn-out parts. Lysosomes — “clean-up system”: enzymes ki thailiyan jo waste aur purane parts ko todti hain.
  • Mitochondria — “powerhouses”: release energy from glucose in cellular respiration; stored as ATP, the energy currency. Mitochondria — “powerhouses”: cellular respiration mein glucose se energy release karte hain; ATP (energy currency) ke roop mein store.
  • Plastids — chloroplasts (green, photosynthesis), chromoplasts (yellow, orange, red colours of flowers and fruits), leucoplasts (colourless, store starch, oils or proteins). Plastids — chloroplasts (green, photosynthesis), chromoplasts (phoolon-phalon ke yellow, orange, red rang), leucoplasts (colourless, starch, oils ya proteins store).
  • Vacuole — plant: one large central vacuole with cell sap that keeps the cell firm (wilting = water loss). Animal: small vacuoles, sometimes present. Vacuole — plant: cell sap se bhari ek badi central vacuole, jo cell ko firm rakhti hai (murjhana = paani ki kami). Animal: chhoti vacuoles, kabhi-kabhi.
  • Prokaryotic vs eukaryotic — bacteria: no well-defined nucleus (DNA in the nucleoid), no membrane-bound organelles, 1 to 10 µm. Plant and animal cells: eukaryotic, 10 to 100 µm. Prokaryotic vs eukaryotic — bacteria: well-defined nucleus nahi (DNA nucleoid mein), membrane-bound organelles nahi, 1 se 10 µm. Plant aur animal cells: eukaryotic, 10 se 100 µm.
