Key points ✍️मुख्य बातें ✍️Key points ✍️
- Age pyramid — plot of the age distribution (per cent individuals of a given age or age group) of a population. Age pyramid — population ke age distribution (kisi age/age group ke percent members) ka plot.
- Human pyramids — generally show the age distribution of males and females in one diagram. Human pyramids — aam taur par males aur females ka age distribution ek hi diagram mein dikhate hain.
- Shape = status — the shape tells whether the population is (a) growing, (b) stable or (c) declining. Shape = status — shape batata hai ki population (a) badh rahi hai, (b) stable hai ya (c) ghat rahi hai.
- Three age groups — pre-reproductive (base), reproductive (middle) and post-reproductive (top). Teen age groups — pre-reproductive (base), reproductive (middle) aur post-reproductive (top).
- Interspecific interactions — arise from the interaction of populations of two different species; may be beneficial, detrimental or neutral to one or both.
- Mutualism (+ +) — both species benefit. Mutualism (+ +) — dono species ko fayda.
- Competition (− −) — both species lose. Competition (− −) — dono species ko nuksaan.
- Predation & parasitism (+ −) — only one benefits (predator / parasite); it is detrimental to the other (prey / host). Predation & parasitism (+ −) — sirf ek ko fayda (predator / parasite); doosre (prey / host) ko nuksaan.
- Commensalism (+ 0) — one benefits, the other is neither benefited nor harmed.
- Amensalism (− 0) — one species is harmed, the other is unaffected. Amensalism (− 0) — ek species ko nuksaan, doosri par koi asar nahi.
- Live closely together — predation, parasitism and commensalism share this common feature. Saath-saath rehna — predation, parasitism aur commensalism ki yeh common khasiyat hai.
