Key points ✍️मुख्य बातें ✍️Key points ✍️
- Three modes — conduction, convection and radiation. Teen modes — conduction, convection aur radiation.
- Conduction — heat transfer between adjacent parts of a body due to their temperature difference. Gases are poor conductors; liquids are in between. Conduction — temperature difference se body ke paas-paas ke parts ke beech heat transfer. Gases bad conductor; liquids beech mein.
- Heat current — H = KA(T_C − T_D)/L (Eq. 10.14); K in W m⁻¹ K⁻¹. Large K → conducts heat rapidly. Heat current — H = KA(T_C − T_D)/L (Eq. 10.14); K ka unit W m⁻¹ K⁻¹. Bada K → tez conduction.
- Everyday conduction — copper-bottomed pots spread heat evenly; plastic foams insulate because they hold pockets of air. Rozana conduction — copper bottom wale bartan heat barabar phailate hain; plastic foam mein hawa ki pockets hoti hain, isliye insulator.
- Convection — heat transfer by actual motion of matter; only in fluids. Natural (gravity) or forced (pump).
- Sea breeze — by day the land heats faster than water; warm air rises and cooler air moves in from the sea. At night the cycle reverses (Fig 10.17). Sea breeze — din mein zameen paani se jaldi garam hoti hai; garam hawa upar uthti hai aur samudra se thandi hawa aati hai. Raat mein cycle ulat jaata hai (Fig 10.17).
- Radiation — needs no medium; electromagnetic waves at the speed of light. Black bodies absorb and emit better than light-coloured ones.
- Thermos flask — double glass walls coated with silver reflect radiation; the vacuum between them cuts conduction and convection. Thermos flask — silver coated double glass walls radiation reflect karti hain; beech ka vacuum conduction aur convection rokta hai.
- Wien’s law — λm T = 2.9 × 10⁻³ m K (Eq. 10.15): the hotter the body, the shorter the peak wavelength. Wien’s law — λm T = 2.9 × 10⁻³ m K (Eq. 10.15): jitni garam body, utna chhota peak wavelength.
- Stefan–Boltzmann — H = AeσT⁴; σ = 5.67 × 10⁻⁸ W m⁻² K⁻⁴; e = 1 for a perfect radiator. Net loss H = eσA(T⁴ − Ts⁴) (Eq. 10.18). नेट हानि H = eσA(T⁴ − Ts⁴) (समी. 10.18)।Stefan–Boltzmann — H = AeσT⁴; σ = 5.67 × 10⁻⁸ W m⁻² K⁻⁴; perfect radiator ke liye e = 1. Net loss H = eσA(T⁴ − Ts⁴) (Eq. 10.18).
- Newton’s law of cooling — −dQ/dt = k(T₂ − T₁): rate of heat loss ∝ temperature difference; valid for small differences. k depends on the area and nature of the surface. Newton’s law of cooling — −dQ/dt = k(T₂ − T₁): heat loss rate ∝ temperature difference; chhote difference ke liye valid. k surface ke area aur nature par depend.
- Cooling equation — dT₂/dt = −K(T₂ − T₁), K = k/ms → T₂ = T₁ + C′e^(−Kt).शीतलन समीकरण — dT₂/dt = −K(T₂ − T₁), K = k/ms → T₂ = T₁ + C′e^(−Kt)।Cooling equation — dT₂/dt = −K(T₂ − T₁), K = k/ms → T₂ = T₁ + C′e^(−Kt).
- Exam trick (Example 10.8) — use the average temperature: rate of fall = K × (average temperature − room temperature). Exam trick (Example 10.8) — average temperature lijiye: girne ki rate = K × (average temperature − room temperature).
