Key points ✍️मुख्य बातें ✍️Key points ✍️

  • Proteins — polypeptides: linear chains of amino acids joined by peptide bonds.
  • Heteropolymer — 20 types of amino acids, so a protein is a heteropolymer, not a homopolymer. Heteropolymer — 20 types ke amino acids, isliye protein heteropolymer hai, homopolymer nahi.
  • Essential amino acids — must come from diet; non-essential ones the body makes. Essential amino acids — diet se aane chahiye; non-essential body khud banata hai.
  • Primary — sequence of amino acids, N-terminal (first) to C-terminal (last). Primary — amino acids ka sequence, N-terminal (pehla) se C-terminal (aakhri).
  • Secondary — α-helix (right-handed only) and other folds such as β-pleated sheet. Secondary — α-helix (sirf right-handed) aur doosre folds jaise β-pleated sheet.
  • Tertiary — chain folded like a hollow woollen ball; needed for biological activity. Tertiary — khokhli oon ki gend jaisi mudi chain; biological activity ke liye zaroori.
  • Quaternary — arrangement of more than one folded subunit; Hb = 2 α + 2 β.
  • Most abundant — collagen in the animal world; RuBisCO in the whole biosphere. Most abundant — animal world mein collagen; poore biosphere mein RuBisCO.
