• Algae — chlorophyll-bearing, simple, thalloid, autotrophic and largely aquatic (fresh water and marine). Also on moist stones, soil, wood; with fungi (lichen) and animals (sloth bear).शैवाल — पर्णहरित युक्त, सरल, थैलसी, स्वपोषी और मुख्यतः जलीय (मीठा व समुद्री जल)। नम पत्थर, मिट्टी, लकड़ी पर भी; कवक के साथ (लाइकेन) और प्राणियों पर (स्लॉथ भालू)।Algae — chlorophyll wale, simple, thalloid, autotrophic aur mostly aquatic (fresh aur marine). • Reproduction — vegetative by fragmentation; asexual by spores, most commonly flagellated zoospores; sexual by fusion of two gametes.जनन — कायिक: विखंडन; अलैंगिक: बीजाणु, सबसे सामान्य कशाभी चलबीजाणु; लैंगिक: दो युग्मकों का संलयन।Reproduction — vegetative: fragmentation; asexual: spores, sabse common flagellated zoospores; sexual: do gametes ka fusion.
• Isogamous — gametes similar in size: flagellated (Ulothrix) or non-flagellated (Spirogyra).समयुग्मकी — समान आकार के युग्मक: कशाभी (यूलोथ्रिक्स) या अकशाभी (स्पाइरोगाइरा)।Isogamous — same size ke gametes: flagellated (Ulothrix) ya non-flagellated (Spirogyra).
• Anisogamous and oogamous — anisogamous: gametes dissimilar in size (Eudorina). Oogamous: large non-motile female + small motile male gamete (Volvox, Fucus).असमयुग्मकी व विषमयुग्मकी — असमयुग्मकी: असमान आकार के युग्मक (यूडोरिना)। विषमयुग्मकी: बड़ा अचल मादा + छोटा चल नर युग्मक (वॉल्वॉक्स, फ्यूकस)।Anisogamous aur oogamous — anisogamous: alag size ke gametes (Eudorina). Oogamous: bada non-motile female + chhota motile male gamete (Volvox, Fucus).
• Green algae — grass green from chlorophyll a and b; one or more pyrenoids in chloroplasts store protein besides starch; some store oil droplets.हरे शैवाल — पर्णहरित a व b से घास जैसे हरे; हरितलवक में एक या अधिक पाइरीनॉइड मंड के साथ प्रोटीन रखते हैं; कुछ तेल बूँदें रखते हैं।Green algae — chlorophyll a aur b se grass green; chloroplast mein ek ya zyada pyrenoids starch ke saath protein rakhte hain; kuch oil droplets store karte hain.
• Brown algae — olive green to brown, depending on fucoxanthin. Kelps may reach a height of 100 metres. Body: holdfast, stipe, frond.भूरे शैवाल — फ्यूकोज़ैन्थिन की मात्रा के अनुसार जैतूनी हरे से भूरे। केल्प 100 मीटर ऊँचाई तक। शरीर: स्थापनांग, वृंत, पर्ण।Brown algae — fucoxanthin ke hisaab se olive green se brown. Kelps 100 metre height tak. Body: holdfast, stipe, frond.
• Red algae — red from r-phycoerythrin; mostly marine, in warmer areas, near the surface and at great depths. Sexual reproduction oogamous with complex post-fertilisation development.लाल शैवाल — r-फाइकोएरिथ्रिन से लाल; अधिकतर समुद्री, गर्म क्षेत्रों में, सतह के पास और बहुत गहराई में भी। लैंगिक जनन विषमयुग्मकी, निषेचन के बाद जटिल विकास।Red algae — r-phycoerythrin se laal; zyadatar marine, garam areas mein, surface ke paas aur bahut gehrai mein bhi. Sexual reproduction oogamous, fertilisation ke baad complex development.
• Floridean starch — food of red algae, very similar to amylopectin and glycogen in structure.फ्लोरिडियन मंड — लाल शैवाल का भोजन, संरचना में एमाइलोपेक्टिन व ग्लाइकोजन जैसा।Floridean starch — red algae ka food, structure mein amylopectin aur glycogen jaisa.
• CO₂ fixation — at least half of the total CO₂ fixation on earth is by algae; they are primary producers of aquatic food cycles.CO₂ स्थिरीकरण — पृथ्वी के कुल CO₂ स्थिरीकरण का कम से कम आधा शैवाल करते हैं; जलीय खाद्य चक्रों के प्राथमिक उत्पादक।CO₂ fixation — earth ke total CO₂ fixation ka kam se kam aadha algae karte hain; aquatic food cycles ke primary producers.

• Not algae any more — cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) are excluded from Plantae and are not "algae" any more.अब शैवाल नहीं — सायनोबैक्टीरिया (नील-हरित शैवाल) प्लांटी से बाहर हैं और अब "शैवाल" नहीं माने जाते।Ab algae nahi — cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) Plantae se bahar hain aur ab "algae" nahi maane jaate.
