Parts and what they mean
- (a) Forward bias circuit ((a) अग्रदिशिक बायस परिपथ) — Battery + side connected (through the rheostat and meter) to the p-side of the diode.
- (b) Reverse bias circuit ((b) पश्चदिशिक बायस परिपथ) — Battery reversed: the n-side is now at the higher potential.
- Rheostat / potentiometer (धारा-नियंत्रक / विभवमापी) — Changes the voltage applied to the diode step by step.
- Milliammeter (forward) (मिलीऐमीटर (अग्र)) — Forward current is large — milliamperes.
- Microammeter (reverse) (माइक्रोऐमीटर (पश्च)) — Reverse current is tiny — microamperes, so a more sensitive meter is used.
- Voltmeter across the diode (डायोड के पार वोल्टमीटर) — Measures the voltage V across the diode.
- Diode under test (परीक्षणाधीन डायोड) — Anode (p) on the left, cathode (n) on the right.
- Battery (forward) (बैटरी (अग्र)) — Long plate = +. The + terminal drives current into the p-side.
- Battery (reversed) (बैटरी (उलटी)) — Now the + terminal faces the n-side.
