NCERT Fig 11.4 · Class 12 Physics · Chapter 11 · interactive diagram
Parts and what they mean
- Frequency ν₁ (lowest) (आवृत्ति ν₁ (न्यूनतम)) — Lowest photon energy, so the smallest Kmax and the smallest stopping potential V0₁.
- Frequency ν₂ (आवृत्ति ν₂) — Higher frequency → larger stopping potential V0₂.
- Frequency ν₃ (highest) (आवृत्ति ν₃ (अधिकतम)) — Highest frequency → most negative stopping potential (largest V0₃).
- Same saturation current (समान संतृप्त धारा) — The intensity is adjusted to be the same for each frequency, so the saturation current is the same.
- Retarding (negative) potential on A (A पर मंदक (ऋणात्मक) विभव) — A is negative w.r.t. C: electrons are repelled.
- Accelerating (positive) potential on A (A पर त्वरक (धनात्मक) विभव) — A is positive w.r.t. C: electrons are attracted.
- Collector plate potential (संग्राहक प्लेट विभव) — Potential of A with respect to C.
- Photocurrent (प्रकाश-विद्युत धारा) — Measured by the microammeter.
