Parts and what they mean
- Zero of energy: free nucleons (ऊर्जा का शून्य: मुक्त न्यूक्लिऑन) — Take the energy of 240 separate, resting nucleons as zero.
- A = 240 nucleus (A = 240 नाभिक) — E_bn ≈ 7.6 MeV, so its energy is 240 × 7.6 = 1824 MeV below the free nucleons.
- Two A = 120 nuclei (दो A = 120 नाभिक) — E_bn ≈ 8.5 MeV for each fragment: more tightly bound, so a lower energy level.
- Energy released (मुक्त ऊर्जा) — Gain in binding energy = 240 × (8.5 − 7.6) = 240 × 0.9 = 216 MeV ≈ 200 MeV per fission.
- Binding energy (बंधन ऊर्जा) — The depth below the free-nucleon line is the total binding energy E_b.
