H, M and B inside a solenoid with a coreक्रोड वाली परिनालिका में H, M और BH, M and B inside a solenoid with a core
NCERT Eq 5.8–5.15 · Class 12 Physics · Chapter 5 · interactive diagram
Parts and what they mean
- Windings (n turns per metre, current I) (फेरे (n फेरे प्रति मीटर, धारा I)) — Without the core they make B₀ = μ₀nI. They set the magnetic intensity H = nI.
- Core material (क्रोड पदार्थ) — Its atoms carry magnetic moments; in the field they line up (para/ferro) or oppose it (dia).
- Atomic dipoles (परमाण्विक द्विध्रुव) — Net moment per unit volume = magnetisation M = m_net/V (A m⁻¹).
- Magnetic intensity H (चुंबकीय तीव्रता H) — The part due to external causes (the current). H = B/μ₀ − M, unit A m⁻¹. In a solenoid H = nI, whatever the core.
- Magnetisation M (चुंबकन M) — The part due to the material. For a linear material M = χH (χ = susceptibility).
- Total field B (कुल क्षेत्र B) — B = B₀ + B_m = μ₀(H + M) = μ₀μᵣH, with μᵣ = 1 + χ.
