Parts and what they mean
- Field lines outside: N → S (बाहर क्षेत्र रेखाएँ: N → S) — Outside the magnet the lines go from the N pole round to the S pole. The tangent at any point gives the direction of B there.
- Field lines inside: S → N (अंदर क्षेत्र रेखाएँ: S → N) — Inside the magnet the lines continue from S to N, so every line is a closed loop. (Computed here from the equivalent solenoid.)
- North pole (उत्तरी ध्रुव) — Lines leave the magnet here.
- South pole (दक्षिणी ध्रुव) — Lines enter the magnet here.
- Closed surface i (बंद पृष्ठ i) — Few lines cross it — the field is weak here. As many lines enter as leave: net flux zero.
- Closed surface ii (बंद पृष्ठ ii) — Encloses the N pole. Many lines leave it, but just as many enter through the magnet’s inside — net flux still zero (no isolated pole inside).
