Parts and what they mean
- N pole piece (concave) (N ध्रुव खंड (अवतल)) — Curved face + the core make the field radial in the gap.
- S pole piece (concave) (S ध्रुव खंड (अवतल)) — Permanent magnet pole.
- Cylindrical soft-iron core (बेलनाकार नर्म लोहे का क्रोड) — Makes the field radial and also stronger, so the instrument is more sensitive.
- Rectangular coil of N turns (N फेरों की आयताकार कुंडली) — Wound on a light frame; free to rotate about the vertical axis.
- Pointer (संकेतक) — Fixed to the coil; deflection φ ∝ current I.
- Scale (पैमाना) — Uniform (linear) scale because φ = (NAB/k) I.
- Spring Sp (restoring torque kφ) (स्प्रिंग Sp (प्रत्यानयन बल आघूर्ण kφ)) — Balances the magnetic torque: kφ = NIAB.
- Axis of rotation (घूर्णन अक्ष) — The coil turns about this vertical axis.
- Terminals (टर्मिनल) — Current enters and leaves the coil here.
