Parts and what they mean
- (a) Field lines of a single +q (एकल +q की क्षेत्र रेखाएँ) — Straight lines going radially outward, starting on the positive charge and going to infinity.
- (b) Field lines of a single −q (एकल −q की क्षेत्र रेखाएँ) — Radially inward: lines come from infinity and end on the negative charge.
- (c) Two equal positive charges (दो बराबर धनावेश) — Lines push away from each other (repulsion); no line joins the two charges.
- (d) Electric dipole (+q and −q) (विद्युत द्विध्रुव (+q और −q)) — Lines start on +q and end on −q; they are dense between the charges where the field is strong.
- Positive charge (धनावेश) — Field lines start here.
- Negative charge (ऋणावेश) — Field lines end here.
- Neutral point N (उदासीन बिंदु N) — Midway between two equal like charges the two fields cancel: E = 0 and no field line passes through.
