Parts and what they mean
- Uniform field along the axis (into the page) (अक्ष के अनुदिश एकसमान क्षेत्र (पृष्ठ के अंदर)) — Perpendicular to the plane in which the rod turns.
- Metallic ring (radius R) (धात्विक वलय (त्रिज्या R)) — The outer end of the rod slides on it; electrons collect here, so the rim is negative.
- Rotating rod OQ (घूमती छड़ OQ) — Different points move at different speeds v = ωr, so we integrate: ε = ∫Bωr dr = ½BωR².
- Centre O (hinge) (केंद्र O (कब्ज़ा)) — Left short of electrons, so O is the positive end in this drawing.
- Angular speed ω (anticlockwise) (कोणीय चाल ω (वामावर्त)) — ω = 2πν; in Example 6.6, ν = 50 rev/s.
- Free electrons pushed outward (बाहर धकेले गए मुक्त इलेक्ट्रॉन) — Lorentz force −e(v × B) points outward here; they flow until the separated charge stops them.
- Resistor joining O and the ring (Method II) (O और वलय को जोड़ता प्रतिरोधक (विधि II)) — Closes a loop whose area grows as the rod turns.
- Swept sector, area ½R²θ (तय त्रिज्यखंड, क्षेत्रफल ½R²θ) — ε = B d(½R²θ)/dt = ½BR²ω — same answer as Method I.
