Parts and what they mean
- Uniform magnetic field into the page (पृष्ठ के अंदर एकसमान चुंबकीय क्षेत्र) — Perpendicular to the plane of the circuit; constant in time.
- Fixed U-shaped conductor SR + rails (स्थिर U-आकार चालक SR + पटरियाँ) — With the rod they make the closed loop PQRS.
- Movable rod PQ (length l) (गतिशील छड़ PQ (लंबाई l)) — It is the source of emf: ε = Blv between its ends.
- Velocity v of the rod (to the left) (छड़ का वेग v (बाईं ओर)) — The enclosed area lx shrinks, so the flux into the page decreases.
- Induced current (clockwise) (प्रेरित धारा (दक्षिणावर्त)) — Clockwise current makes a field into the page inside the loop — opposing the decrease (Lenz).
- Lorentz force on a + charge in the rod (छड़ में + आवेश पर लोरेंज़ बल) — F = q v × B points from P towards Q; work per unit charge over length l gives ε = Blv.
- Magnetic force on the current in the rod (छड़ की धारा पर चुंबकीय बल) — Points to the right — it opposes the motion. Someone must keep pulling to keep v constant.
- Distance RQ = x (दूरी RQ = x) — Changes with time: dx/dt = −v.
- Width RS = l (चौड़ाई RS = l) — Length of the rod between the rails.
