Magnet and coil: direction of induced currentचुंबक और कुंडली: प्रेरित धारा की दिशाMagnet and coil: direction of induced current
NCERT Fig 6.1 / 6.6 · Class 12 Physics · Chapter 6 · interactive diagram
Parts and what they mean
- Bar magnet (छड़ चुंबक) — Its N-pole faces the coil. Field lines leave the N-pole, so moving it changes the flux through the coil.
- Velocity of the magnet (चुंबक का वेग) — (a) towards the coil → flux increases; (b) away → flux decreases. Faster motion → larger deflection.
- Coil (closed through G) (कुंडली (G से बंद)) — An emf is induced only while the flux through it is changing.
- Induced current (front of the turns) (प्रेरित धारा (फेरों का सामने वाला भाग)) — Arrows show the current on the near side of each turn. It reverses when the motion reverses.
- Induced pole on the near face (निकट वाले फलक पर प्रेरित ध्रुव) — (a) N faces the approaching N → repulsion; (b) S faces the receding N → attraction. Either way the motion is opposed (Lenz’s law).
- Coil seen from the magnet’s side (चुंबक की ओर से देखी गई कुंडली) — (a) counter-clockwise current = N face; (b) clockwise current = S face (as NCERT states).
- Galvanometer (गैल्वेनोमीटर) — Centre-zero meter. The needle deflects one way in (a) and the opposite way in (b); no deflection when the magnet is still.
