Parts and what they mean
- North pole of the field magnet (क्षेत्र चुंबक का उत्तरी ध्रुव) — With the S pole it makes a strong, nearly uniform field B across the coil.
- South pole of the field magnet (क्षेत्र चुंबक का दक्षिणी ध्रुव) — Field lines go from N to S through the coil.
- Magnetic field B (चुंबकीय क्षेत्र B) — Perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
- Coil (armature), N turns, area A (कुंडली (आर्मेचर), N फेरे, क्षेत्रफल A) — Rotated mechanically at angular speed ω; its flux NBA cos ωt keeps changing → ε = NBAω sin ωt.
- Axle (rotor shaft) (धुरा (घूर्णक शाफ़्ट)) — Turned by falling water, steam or a motor; axis ⟂ B.
- Ends of the coil (कुंडली के सिरे) — Each end is fixed to its own slip ring and turns with it.
- Slip rings (सर्पी वलय) — Two metal rings on the axle; they let the turning coil stay connected to a fixed circuit without twisting the wires.
- Carbon brushes (कार्बन ब्रुश) — Fixed contacts that press on the rotating slip rings and carry the current out.
- External circuit (bulb) (बाह्य परिपथ (बल्ब)) — Gets an alternating current; in India it alternates at 50 Hz.
- Rotation ω (घूर्णन ω) — θ = ωt is the angle between B and the coil’s area vector.
