Parts and what they mean
- Metal cap (disc) (धातु की टोपी (चकती)) — A charged body is touched to it; charge spreads from the cap down the metal rod.
- Metal rod (धातु की छड़) — A conductor that carries charge from the cap to the leaves.
- Gold leaves (स्वर्ण पत्तियाँ) — Very thin, light leaves. Both get the same kind of charge, repel and diverge; more charge → wider divergence.
- Insulating stopper (rubber/cork) (विद्युतरोधी डाट) — Holds the rod and stops charge leaking to the box.
- Glass jar / box (काँच का जार / बॉक्स) — Protects the delicate leaves from air currents.
- Charged rod (आवेशित छड़) — Touching the cap with it shares its charge with the electroscope.
