Parts and what they mean
- Photon energy hν (फोटॉन ऊर्जा hν) — One photon gives all its energy hν to one electron.
- Work function φ0 (कार्य फलन φ0) — Part of hν used just to get out of the metal.
- Maximum kinetic energy Kmax (अधिकतम गतिज ऊर्जा Kmax) — What is left: Kmax = hν − φ0. More tightly bound electrons come out with less.
- Escape level (पलायन स्तर) — An electron must be raised at least to this level to leave the metal.
- Metal surface (धातु पृष्ठ) — The most energetic free electrons sit φ0 below the escape level.
- Photoelectron (प्रकाश-इलेक्ट्रॉन) — Leaves with kinetic energy up to Kmax = eV0.
- Not enough energy (ऊर्जा अपर्याप्त) — If hν < φ0 (ν < ν0) the electron cannot escape. More intense light only means more such photons — still no emission.
