Parts and what they mean
- Standing wave that fits (n = 4) (फ़िट होने वाली अप्रगामी तरंग (n = 4)) — Exactly 4 de Broglie wavelengths fit in the circumference: 2πr = 4λ. The wave meets itself in step and survives.
- Wave that does not fit (फ़िट न होने वाली तरंग) — If 2πr is not a whole number of wavelengths, each new round is out of step with the last (dashed) and the wave cancels itself — no stable orbit.
- One de Broglie wavelength λ (एक दे ब्रॉग्ली तरंगदैर्घ्य λ) — λ = h/mv (Chapter 11). Putting 2πr = nλ gives mvr = nh/2π — Bohr’s second postulate.
- Bohr orbit (बोर कक्षा) — Circle of radius r around the nucleus.
- Orbit with a non-fitting wavelength (न समाने वाली तरंगदैर्घ्य की कक्षा) — Same circle, but the wavelength does not divide its circumference.
