Parts and what they mean
- f : A → B (f : A → B) — f(2) = 3, f(3) = 4, f(4) = f(5) = 5.
- g : B → C (g : B → C) — g(3) = g(4) = 7, g(5) = g(9) = 11.
- gof : A → C (gof : A → C) — gof(x) = g(f(x)): apply f first, then g. Range of f must lie inside the domain of g.
- One value worked out (एक मान निकालकर) — gof(2) = 7, gof(3) = 7, gof(4) = 11, gof(5) = 11.
- A = {2, 3, 4, 5} (A = {2, 3, 4, 5}) — Domain of f and of gof.
- B = {3, 4, 5, 9} (B = {3, 4, 5, 9}) — Co-domain of f = domain of g.
- C = {7, 11, 15} (C = {7, 11, 15}) — Co-domain of g and of gof. 15 is not an image.
