Parts and their functions
- Female wasp (pollinator) (मादा बर्र (परागणकर्ता)) — Each fig species is pollinated only by its own “partner” wasp species — a tight one-to-one relationship. The wasp pollinates the fig inflorescence while searching for egg-laying sites.
- Pollen carried by the wasp (बर्र पर परागकण) — The wasp carries pollen into the fig and pollinates its flowers.
- Fig inflorescence (अंजीर पुष्पक्रम) — The fig’s tiny flowers lie inside this hollow structure.
- Fig flowers (अंजीर के फूल) — Pollinated by the wasp from inside.
- Opening of the fig (अंजीर का छिद्र) — The small opening through which the wasp enters.
- Fig fruit (अंजीर फल) — The female wasp uses the fruit as an oviposition (egg-laying) site.
- Wasp laying eggs (अंडे देती बर्र) — The female wasp lays her eggs inside the fruit.
- Wasp eggs (बर्र के अंडे) — Laid inside the developing fruit.
- Wasp larvae (बर्र के लार्वा) — Fed on some of the fig’s developing seeds — the fig’s “fee” for pollination.
- Developing seeds (विकसित होते बीज) — Some are given up as food for the wasp larvae.
- Both benefit (+ +) (दोनों को लाभ (+ +)) — Fig gets pollination; wasp gets an egg-laying site and food for its larvae. Their evolution is tightly linked (co-evolution).
