Parts and what they mean
- Applied pressure greater than π (π से अधिक दाब) — Pressure larger than the osmotic pressure reverses the flow.
- Membrane (e.g. cellulose acetate film) (झिल्ली (जैसे सेलुलोस ऐसीटेट फ़िल्म)) — Permeable to water, impermeable to impurities and ions in sea water.
- Fresh (pure) water side (शुद्ध जल की ओर) — Pure water collects here.
- Sea water (समुद्री जल) — Salty water is pushed against the membrane.
- Pure water flows OUT of the solution (शुद्ध जल विलयन से बाहर बहता है) — Direction opposite to osmosis — used for desalination of sea water.
- Container (पात्र) — Two compartments separated by the membrane.
