Parts and what they mean
- Reactants: one H₂ and one I₂ molecule (अभिकारक: एक H₂ और एक I₂ अणु) — According to Arrhenius, they react only when they collide and form an unstable intermediate.
- Intermediate (activated complex) (मध्यवर्ती (सक्रियित संकुल)) — H–H and I–I bonds are breaking while two H–I bonds are forming. It exists for a very short time. The energy needed to form it is the activation energy Ea.
- Products: two molecules of HI (उत्पाद: HI के दो अणु) — The intermediate breaks up to give 2HI, releasing some energy.
- Dashed lines: partial bonds (डैश रेखाएँ: आंशिक बंध) — Old bonds half-broken, new bonds half-formed.
