Parts and what they mean
- Cr(III) (Cr(III)) — x + 2(−1) + 2(−2) = −3 → x = +3.
- Cl⁻ (chlorido) (Cl⁻ (क्लोरिडो)) — Two chlorido ligands.
- O donor of oxalate (ऑक्सेलेट का O दाता) — Each ox (C₂O₄²⁻) binds through two O atoms.
- ox chelate (oxalato) (ox कीलेट (ऑक्सेलेटो)) — A didentate ligand, like en but with charge −2.
- cis-[CrCl₂(ox)₂]³⁻ is chiral (समपक्ष-[CrCl₂(ox)₂]³⁻ काइरल है) — NCERT Example 5.6 answer: (a) cis is optically active.
- trans-[CrCl₂(ox)₂]³⁻ is not chiral (विपक्ष-[CrCl₂(ox)₂]³⁻ काइरल नहीं) — It has a mirror plane (the plane of the two ox ligands).
- Fe(III) (Fe(III)) — x + 2(0) + 4(−1) = −1 → x = +3.
- NH₃ (ammine) (NH₃ (ऐम्मीन)) — The two NH₃ decide cis or trans.
- CN⁻ (cyanido) (CN⁻ (सायनिडो)) — Four cyanido ligands.
- cis-[Fe(NH₃)₂(CN)₄]⁻ (समपक्ष-[Fe(NH₃)₂(CN)₄]⁻) — NH₃ groups at 90°.
- trans-[Fe(NH₃)₂(CN)₄]⁻ (विपक्ष-[Fe(NH₃)₂(CN)₄]⁻) — NH₃ groups at 180°.
