Parts and what they mean
- eg (empty in the ground state) (eg (मूल अवस्था में खाली)) — The next higher level available to the electron.
- t2g with the single d electron (t2g, एक d इलेक्ट्रॉन के साथ) — Ti³⁺ (3d¹): the electron sits in the lower t2g set.
- t2g¹eg⁰ → t2g⁰eg¹ (t2g¹eg⁰ → t2g⁰eg¹) — Absorbing light of energy equal to Δo excites the electron: a d–d transition.
- Electron now in eg (इलेक्ट्रॉन अब eg में) — Excited state.
- t2g now empty (t2g अब खाली) — Excited state.
- Light absorbed (अवशोषित प्रकाश) — Energy of the photon = Δo.
- Visible spectrum (दृश्य स्पेक्ट्रम) — White light contains all colours from about 400 to 700 nm.
- 498 nm absorbed (NCERT Table 5.3) (498 nm अवशोषित (NCERT सारणी 5.3)) — [Ti(H₂O)₆]³⁺ absorbs blue-green light.
- Colour seen: violet (दिखने वाला रंग: बैंगनी) — We see the complementary colour of what is absorbed.
