Parts and what they mean
- Co(III) (Co(III)) — x + 2(−1) + 2(0) = +1 → x = +3. CN = 2 (Cl) + 2×2 (N of en) = 6.
- Cl⁻ (chlorido) (Cl⁻ (क्लोरिडो)) — Their position decides cis or trans.
- N donor of en (en का N दाता) — Each en uses two N atoms on adjacent (cis) corners — it is too short to span opposite corners.
- en chelate (ethane-1,2-diamine) (en कीलेट (एथेन-1,2-डाइऐमीन)) — The purple arc = one H₂N–CH₂–CH₂–NH₂ ligand bridging two adjacent positions.
- cis-[CoCl₂(en)₂]⁺ (समपक्ष-[CoCl₂(en)₂]⁺) — Cl at 90°. Has no mirror symmetry → exists as a d and l pair too.
- trans-[CoCl₂(en)₂]⁺ (विपक्ष-[CoCl₂(en)₂]⁺) — Cl at 180°; both en in one plane; superimposable on its mirror image.
