Parts and what they mean
- Sugar–phosphate backbone (strand 1) (शर्करा–फ़ॉस्फ़ेट आधार (रज्जुक 1)) — The rails of the ladder: alternating deoxyribose and phosphate units.
- Sugar–phosphate backbone (strand 2) (शर्करा–फ़ॉस्फ़ेट आधार (रज्जुक 2)) — The second chain winds round the first (double helix, Watson and Crick).
- A–T base pair (A–T क्षारक युग्म) — Adenine forms hydrogen bonds with thymine.
- G–C base pair (G–C क्षारक युग्म) — Cytosine forms hydrogen bonds with guanine.
- 5′ and 3′ ends (5′ और 3′ सिरे) — The two strands are complementary and run in opposite directions (one 5′→3′, the other 3′→5′).
