Parts and what they mean
- D-(+)-Glyceraldehyde (D-(+)-ग्लिसरैल्डिहाइड) — The (+) isomer: written with –CHO at the top, its –OH lies on the RIGHT. This defines the D-configuration.
- L-(–)-Glyceraldehyde (L-(–)-ग्लिसरैल्डिहाइड) — The mirror image (enantiomer): –OH on the LEFT → L-configuration.
- D-(+)-Glucose (D-(+)-ग्लूकोस) — D = configuration (related to D-glyceraldehyde); (+) = dextrorotatory. Only the lowest asymmetric carbon (C-5) is compared.
- The rows compared (तुलना की गई पंक्तियाँ) — –OH on the lowest asymmetric carbon of glucose is on the right, like (+)-glyceraldehyde → D. Other asymmetric carbons are not considered.
- Mirror plane (दर्पण तल) — D- and L-glyceraldehyde are non-superimposable mirror images (one asymmetric carbon). D/L has NO relation to the sign of rotation (+/–) or to d/l.
