Parts and what they mean
- Adenine (A) — purine (ऐडेनीन (A) — प्यूरीन) — In DNA and RNA. Pairs with T in DNA (two hydrogen bonds). The N–H at the bottom (N-9) is where the sugar attaches.
- Guanine (G) — purine (ग्वानीन (G) — प्यूरीन) — In DNA and RNA. Pairs with C (three hydrogen bonds).
- Cytosine (C) — pyrimidine (साइटोसीन (C) — पिरिमिडीन) — In DNA and RNA. Pairs with G.
- Thymine (T) — pyrimidine, only in DNA (थाइमीन (T) — पिरिमिडीन, केवल DNA में) — Has a –CH₃ group; uracil does not. Pairs with A.
- Uracil (U) — pyrimidine, only in RNA (यूरैसिल (U) — पिरिमिडीन, केवल RNA में) — Takes the place of thymine in RNA.
