Parts and what they mean
- N-Methylethanamine, CH₃NHCH₂CH₃ (N-मेथिलएथेनेमीन, CH₃NHCH₂CH₃) — Longest chain on N = ethane (2 C) → "ethanamine"; the CH₃ on N is shown by the locant N → N-methyl (NCERT example).
- Ethane-1,2-diamine, H₂N–CH₂–CH₂–NH₂ (एथेन-1,2-डाइऐमीन) — Two –NH₂ groups: give their carbon numbers and add "di". The "e" of ethane is retained (ethane-1,2-diamine).
- N,N-Dimethylbenzenamine (N,N-dimethylaniline) (N,N-डाइमेथिलबेन्ज़ेनेमीन (N,N-डाइमेथिलऐनिलीन)) — Arylamine: "e" of benzene replaced by "amine" → benzenamine (= aniline, also an accepted IUPAC name). Two CH₃ on N → N,N-dimethyl.
- Locant N (लोकेंट N) — In 2° and 3° amines, substituents on nitrogen get the locant N (not a number).
