Parts and what they mean
- n-Butane — 273 K (n-ब्यूटेन — 273 K) — Non-polar: only weak van der Waals forces, so the lowest b.p.
- Methoxyethane — 281 K (मेथॉक्सीएथेन — 281 K) — An ether is only weakly polar.
- Propanal — 322 K (प्रोपेनैल — 322 K) — Dipole–dipole attraction between polar C=O groups (weak molecular association).
- Acetone — 329 K (ऐसीटोन — 329 K) — Also dipole–dipole; ketones are slightly more polar than aldehydes of similar size.
- Propan-1-ol — 370 K (प्रोपेन-1-ऑल — 370 K) — Intermolecular hydrogen bonding — absent in aldehydes and ketones — gives the highest b.p.
- Boiling point in kelvin (क्वथनांक केल्विन में) — NCERT values (Section 8.3).
