Parts and what they mean
- Benzaldehyde (normal structure) (बेंज़ैल्डिहाइड (सामान्य संरचना)) — Curved arrows: a ring π pair moves toward the C=O, and the C=O π pair moves onto O.
- Resonance structure: + at an ortho carbon (अनुनादी संरचना: ऑर्थो कार्बन पर +) — Negative charge on O, positive charge in the ring.
- Resonance structure: + at the para carbon (अनुनादी संरचना: पैरा कार्बन पर +) — The positive charge is spread over the ring, not concentrated on the carbonyl carbon.
- Resonance structure: + at the other ortho carbon (अनुनादी संरचना: दूसरे ऑर्थो कार्बन पर +) — Overall, the polarity of C=O is reduced, so the carbonyl carbon is less electrophilic.
- Resonance arrows (अनुनाद तीर) — All four are contributing structures of one real molecule.
