Class 12 Chemistry · Chapter 4 · interactive diagram
Parts and what they mean
- Chromium (+6) (क्रोमियम (+6)) — Cr is +6 in both ions, so chromate ⇌ dichromate is not a redox change.
- Terminal Cr–O bonds (अंतस्थ Cr–O बंध) — Six equivalent terminal Cr–O bonds in dichromate, about 163 pm.
- Bridging oxygen (सेतु ऑक्सीजन) — One O is shared by both tetrahedra; the bridging Cr–O bonds are longer, about 179 pm.
- Cr–O–Cr angle 126° (Cr–O–Cr कोण 126°) — The two tetrahedra share a corner with a Cr–O–Cr angle of 126°.
