Parts and their functions
- Test tube (परखनली) — About 5 mL of dilute sulphuric acid with a few zinc granules.
- Dilute sulphuric acid (तनु सल्फ़्यूरिक अम्ल) — Acid + metal → salt + hydrogen gas. Repeat with HCl — the same gas forms.
- Zinc granules (जिंक के दाने) — Bubbles appear on their surface — zinc displaces hydrogen from the acid and forms zinc sulphate.
- Delivery tube (निकास नली) — Carries the gas from the test tube into the soap solution.
- Soap solution (साबुन का विलयन) — The gas forms bubbles in it, so we can catch and test the gas.
- Hydrogen-filled bubble (हाइड्रोजन से भरा बुलबुला) — Brought near a flame it burns with a "pop" sound — the test for hydrogen gas.
- Burning candle (जलती मोमबत्ती) — Used to test the gas: hydrogen burns with a pop sound.
