Parts and their functions
- Right atrium (दायाँ अलिंद) — Receives deoxygenated blood from the body through the vena cava.
- Right ventricle (दायाँ निलय) — Pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs through the pulmonary artery.
- Left atrium (बायाँ अलिंद) — Receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs through the pulmonary veins.
- Left ventricle (बायाँ निलय) — Thickest muscular wall — pumps oxygenated blood to the whole body through the aorta.
- Aorta (महाधमनी) — Largest artery: carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle to the body.
- Pulmonary artery (फुफ्फुस धमनी) — Carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs (an artery with deoxygenated blood!).
- Pulmonary veins (फुफ्फुस शिराएँ) — Bring oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium.
- Vena cava (महाशिरा) — Large veins bringing deoxygenated blood from the body to the right atrium.
- Valves (वाल्व) — Ensure blood does not flow backwards when atria or ventricles contract.
- Septum (पट) — Wall separating the right and left sides, so oxygenated and deoxygenated blood do not mix.
