Parts and their functions
- Electric cell (विद्युत सेल) — Longer thin line = positive (+) terminal, shorter thick line = negative (−) terminal.
- Battery (बैटरी) — Two or more cells joined in series (+ of one to − of the next).
- Plug key / switch — open (प्लग कुंजी / स्विच — खुला) — Circuit broken: no current flows.
- Plug key / switch — closed (प्लग कुंजी / स्विच — बंद) — Circuit complete: current flows.
- Wire joint (तारों का जोड़) — A dot means the wires are connected.
- Wires crossing without joining (बिना जुड़े एक-दूसरे को पार करते तार) — No dot, wires are not connected.
- Electric bulb (विद्युत बल्ब) — Glows when current flows through its filament.
- Resistor (resistance R) (प्रतिरोधक (प्रतिरोध R)) — A component that offers a fixed resistance.
- Variable resistance / rheostat (परिवर्ती प्रतिरोध / धारा नियंत्रक) — Used to change the current in a circuit without changing the source voltage.
- Ammeter (ऐमीटर) — Measures current. Always connected in series. + terminal towards the + of the battery.
- Voltmeter (वोल्टमीटर) — Measures potential difference. Always connected in parallel across the two points.
