Parts and their functions

Vessel (cylindrical, curved base) (पात्र (बेलनाकार, घुमावदार तली)) — Holds 100–1000 litres of culture; the curved base helps mixing.
Motor (मोटर) — Drives the stirrer (agitator).
Stirrer / agitator (विलोडक / आलोडक) — Agitator system: gives even mixing and oxygen availability throughout the bioreactor.
Flat-bladed impeller (चपटे ब्लेड वाला इम्पेलर) — Blades on the stirrer shaft that mix the culture.
Sparger — sterile air in (स्पार्जर — निर्जीवाणु वायु) — Oxygen delivery system: sterile air bubbles are sparged (bubbled) through the culture.
Air bubbles (वायु बुलबुले) — Supply oxygen to the growing cells.
Foam breaker (फेन तोड़क) — Foam control system — breaks the foam formed on top of the culture.
Acid/base for pH control (pH नियंत्रण हेतु अम्ल/क्षार) — pH control system keeps the optimum pH for growth.
Temperature control jacket (ताप नियंत्रण जैकेट) — Temperature control system: water/steam around the vessel keeps the optimum temperature (steam is also used to sterilise).
Culture broth (कल्चर माध्यम) — Cells growing in medium with optimum temperature, pH, substrate, salts, vitamins and oxygen.
Sampling port (नमूना द्वार) — Small volumes of culture can be withdrawn periodically to check it.
Exhaust (निकास) — Outlet for gases leaving the reactor.
