Parts and their functions
- Airplane = ecosystem (हवाई जहाज़ = पारितंत्र) — All parts are held together by thousands of rivets — like an ecosystem held together by its species.
- Rivets = species (रिवेट = जातियाँ) — If passengers pop rivets (species go extinct), flight safety (ecosystem function) is not hit at first, but the plane grows dangerously weak as more are removed.
- Wing rivets = key species (पंख के रिवेट = प्रमुख जातियाँ) — Which rivet is removed matters: losing rivets on the wings (key species that drive major ecosystem functions) is far more serious than losing a few on the seats or windows.
- Wings (पंख) — Stand for the major ecosystem functions.
- Seats / windows (सीट / खिड़कियाँ) — Rivets here are less critical — like species with minor roles.
