Positive, negative and zero workधनात्मक, ऋणात्मक और शून्य कार्य
NCERT Figs 7.3–7.7 · interactive diagram
Parts and their functions
- Positive work (धनात्मक कार्य) — Force and displacement in the same direction: W = F × s (pushing a box forward, lifting a bucket up). Energy is given to the object.
- Negative work (ऋणात्मक कार्य) — Force opposite to displacement: friction on a sliding coin, a goalkeeper stopping a ball (200 N × −0.15 m = −30 J). Energy is taken from the object.
- Zero work (शून्य कार्य) — No displacement (holding a barbell steady, pushing a wall), or force perpendicular to the displacement (carrying a bag horizontally at constant velocity).
