Parts and their functions
- Laser beam (लेज़र किरण) — Viewed from the side. Never look straight into a laser.
- Solution (salt + water) (विलयन (नमक + जल)) — Particles < 1 nm — too small to scatter light, so the beam path is invisible. No Tyndall effect.
- Suspension (chalk + water) (निलंबन (चॉक + जल)) — Particles > 1000 nm scatter light (path visible), but they settle on standing and are removed by filtration.
- Colloid (milk + water) (कोलॉइड (दूध + जल)) — Particles 1–1000 nm: looks uniform, does not settle, passes through filter paper — but scatters light (Tyndall effect).
