Parts and their functions
- Axes of a solubility curve (विलेयता वक्र के अक्ष) — x-axis: temperature (°C); y-axis: grams of solute that dissolve in 100 g of water to make a saturated solution.
- Compound B — steep curve (यौगिक B — तीव्र वक्र) — Solubility rises a lot with temperature, so cooling a hot saturated solution of B gives many crystals.
- Compound A — almost flat (यौगिक A — लगभग सपाट) — Solubility hardly changes with temperature (like common salt), so cooling gives very few crystals; evaporation is used instead.
- Reading at 40 °C (40 °C पर पाठ्यांक) — Only 241 g of B stays dissolved in 100 g water at 40 °C.
- Reading at 60 °C (60 °C पर पाठ्यांक) — 287 g of B dissolves at 60 °C. Cooling from 60 °C to 40 °C deposits 287 − 241 = 46 g of crystals.
