Separating blood by centrifugationअपकेंद्रण द्वारा रक्त का पृथक्करण
NCERT Fig 5.22 · interactive diagram
Parts and their functions
- Whole blood (संपूर्ण रक्त) — Looks uniform — blood is a colloid; its cells do not settle on standing.
- Centrifugation (अपकेंद्रण) — Spinning at high speed pushes heavier particles outward — to the bottom of the tube.
- Plasma (top) (प्लाज़्मा (ऊपर)) — The lighter, straw-coloured liquid part.
- Platelets and white blood cells (प्लेटलेट्स और श्वेत रक्त कोशिकाएँ) — A thin middle layer.
- Red blood cells (bottom) (लाल रक्त कोशिकाएँ (नीचे)) — Heaviest, so they collect at the bottom. Blood banks store these components separately.
