Parts and their functions
- Ball and socket joint (कंदुक-खल्लिका संधि) — Rounded end of a bone fits in a hollow (shoulder, hip): forward, backward, sideways and circular movement.
- Hinge joint (कब्ज़ा संधि) — Bends and straightens in one direction like a door hinge — elbow, knee (protected by the kneecap).
- Pivot joint (धुराग्र संधि) — Skull joined to the backbone; lets the head turn side to side (shaking head “no”).
- Fixed joints (अचल संधि) — Skull bones are joined so they cannot move — keeps brain, eyes and ears safe.
