Parts and their functions

• Valley breeze (day) (घाटी समीर (दिन)) — Sunlit slopes heat faster than the valley floor; warm air over them rises (low pressure) and cooler valley air moves up the slope.
• Mountain breeze (night) (पर्वत समीर (रात)) — After sunset the slopes cool faster; cold, dense air drains down into the valley — cool nights in Shimla and Dehradun valleys.
