Parts and their functions
- Days 1–5: menstruation (दिन 1–5: रजोधर्म) — If the egg was not fertilised, the thick uterine lining sheds with some blood (3–7 days).
- Days 6–14: lining rebuilds (दिन 6–14: परत फिर बनती है) — An egg matures in the ovary meanwhile.
- About day 14: ovulation (लगभग दिन 14: अंडोत्सर्ग) — Ovary releases a mature egg. The day varies with cycle length and person — not always day 14.
- Days 15–28: lining thick, rich in blood vessels (दिन 15–28: परत मोटी, रक्त वाहिकाओं से भरपूर) — Ready for a zygote. No fertilisation → it breaks down around day 28 and the cycle repeats (21–35 days is normal).
