Parts and their functions
- System A (निकाय A) — Comes to thermal equilibrium with C through the diathermic wall.
- System B (निकाय B) — Also comes to equilibrium with C.
- Third system C (तीसरा निकाय C) — Acts like a thermometer for A and B.
- Adiabatic wall (रुद्धोष्म दीवार) — An insulating wall: no heat can flow through it.
- Diathermic walls (ऊष्मापारक दीवारें) — Conducting walls that let heat flow until temperatures become equal.
- Zeroth law (शून्य कोटि नियम) — If A and B are each in equilibrium with C, they are in equilibrium with each other: they share one property, temperature.
